Vairagya (Non-Attachment)

Wise people have said: "Vairagyma Doshanudarshanam." This is a pithy Sanskrit sentence, and it means that once you see "Dosha" or fault in something, you are not attracted to it any more. More broadly speaking, "Vairagya" or non-attachment refers to a lack of desire for pleasures pertaining to this body and its association with the physical world, pleasures as might be forthcoming when the being lands in heaven etc. (as some religions like Puranic Hinduism, Christianity, etc. proclaim) ...As long as a desire for pleasures exist, the "Jeeva" does not have Vairagya. This means is developed in the mind by serious Yogis who can see the "Dosha" or fault in these sensual pursuits...
