The Seven Stages of "Jnana" or Knowledge

Yogic stages, as propounded by Yogis, differ from Yogi to Yogi. Sam Yogi prefers the underlying seven Yogic stages, which are therapeutic in nature, and wellness producing in value.  Awareness of these  seven  yogic  stages is  known as "Jnana" and  the liberation  achieved through these seven stages in known as "Jneya." In Sanskrit, "Jnana" means knowledge, "Jneya" means that which needs to be known, and one who knows is known as a "Jnani."

Once a human being enters the fourth stage and establishes himself / herself in the fourth stage, he / she is not moved or ensnared by heavy sorrow. There is a saying in Sanskrit --- "Tarati Shokam Atmavit." It means that "Atmavit" or one who knows this "Atman" or "Self" or "Soul" transcends heavy sorrow. In other words, one becomes an "Atmavit" or a knower of the "Atman" once one enters the fourth stage of "Satvapatti." This stage onwards, the "Jeeva" or being realizes that it is "Brahman", and never forgets its real nature...This stage is synonymous with achieving "mukti" or liberation. The stages after Satvapatti are liberated-while-living (Jeevan Mukta) stages: Asamsakti, Padarthabhavini, and Turyaga.
