What are Chakras?

If you are into Yoga, chances are you must have heard of the seven Chakras. The word Chakra in Sanskrit means wheel. In Yoga, a Chakra means a vortex of energy or a psychic energy center.

To describe it better, an analogy is in order. Just as step-down transformers are used in the distribution of electricity, Chakras are used to receive universal pranic energy, and step the energy down for efficient use by the body. In addition to providing the prana for specific functions and areas of the body, these Chakras can be used as trigger points for awakening the higher dimensions of consciousness. For example, manas or mind, svasa or breath, and mantra or formula can be united to awaken the Atindriya Marga or para-sensory route / psychic passage between the Manipura, through the Anahata, to the Visuddhi Chakra.

Please read up on each of the Chakras prior to practicing any Asanas and Pranayamas (some of which will be soon published on this portal) as prescribed for your various ailments by Brahmavid Sam Yogi. If you feel like dancing or getting into a trance, listen to the Siva-Tandava podcast on this portal. Thank you.
