Brahma Sutras (Formulae on Brahman) Explained by Sam Yogi
With Word-by-Word Sanskrit to English Translation
Anyone serious about the knowledge of Brahman, as hinted at by other popular Vedantic texts like the Srimad-Bhagavad Gita and the 108 Upanishdads, must at some point in his / her quest for knowledge, understand the Brahma Sutras. A Sutra means a formula, and a Brahma Sutra means a formula on Brahman. Consider these Sutras to be the formulae which unlock the great knowledge of Brahman.
These Sutras were coined by Vadarayna, who earned the title of "Vyasa." Vadarayana Vyasa is also considered the Jnana-Shakti Avatara (the knowlege-power incarnation) of God or Brahman.
Once you know Brahman, you become a Brahmavid. And once you are a Brahmavid, you can claim with authenticity: Brahmavid Brahmaiva Bhavati --- One who knows Brahman becomes One with It.
These Sutras are proven by referencing the various scriptures as required, including the Vedas and the Upanishads.
